BLACK ACADEMY OF ARTS AND LETTERS, INC.

Would you also take a moment out, as soon as possible, to complete and return the enclosed reservation form. Last year our staff was greatly taxed contacting Academy members. Our resources were reduced by long distance calls as well as the expense of dinner and luncheon reservations that were neither kept nor cancelled by members. We need your help to avoid this happening again.

The New York Amsterdam News in preparing a special supplement on the Black Academy; it is scheduled for publication on September 18th. Specific articles concerning the arts and letters will be solicited from some Academy members, but there will also be general articles about the Academy and its membership.

Mrs. Prettyman advise me that at least a third of the BAAL members have not sent in a photo or curriculum vitae; without these there will be little other than library references used to assist the Amsterdam in preparation of the supplement. Please forward your biographical material if you haven't already done so. The supplement will serve as a publicity piece which otherwise we would have had to commission.

We are planning a Spring Conference which will bring together artists and scholars from around the country, for which we have a commitment for funding. We also intend to devote some time at the Annual Meeting to develop the format for this conference.

We look forward to hearing from you soon and hope you are having a wonderful summer.

Sincerely,

C E Lincoln
