22-26 East 8th St. New York, N.Y. 10003 Sept. 17, 1972. D.C. Eric Lincoln, Pres. Black Academy of Arts and Letters New York N.Y. Dear Eric: I am enclosing a check for $100.00 as a contribution to B.A.A.L. Please use it purposefully, such as possibly adding it to the down-payment fund for the purchase of the Langston Hughes house, or any other way which you feel it can be most useful to B.A.A.L. and its program. I only wish I could send more at this time. Since I could enter only work(s) of art of my own to the auction which is planned, I feel it would not be appropriate to do so. I shall talk to you on the phone immediately to give you the reason which, I am sure, you will agree to in substance. The enclosed check might be considered as my offer to the auction list. Best wishes to you in all things. Very Cordially, Hale Woodruff [[image]] HALE A.
