Each year the Academy intends to elect deceased black artists and scholars to a Hall of Fame. The first persons to be so named are Dr. W.E.B. du Bois, sociologist and historian; Henry Ossawa Tanner, artist; and Carter G. Woodson, historian. The Academy needs funds to acquire a locale for the Hall, and also to acquire diverse materials representative of each designee. Acquisitions will include original manuscripts, works of art, photographs, published works, recordings, a bust or series of photographs of the individual, and assorted memorabilia. Funds will also be required for cataloguing the material and purchasing collections. Black Academy Hall of Fame
