Every other year, the Academy plans to hold a national conference of black artists and scholars to assess the nature and quality of the effort blacks should encourage in particular crafts and scholarly disciplines. The conference would be divided into various working sections covering he plastic arts, film and photography, the theatre, music, dance, literature, history and biography, and the behavioral and social sciences. Funds are needed to cover the cots of securing a meeting place and travel and accommodations for at least thirty participants. Additional expenses involve recording and transcription, printing and postage, and the publishing of the proceedings.
