Madam

I thank you for your letter of the 24th. The same mail brought me from England a book of which the enclosed circular is the announcement. Andrew Robertson was a brother of Archibald of New York from whom your father rec'd instruction in miniature painting & the most interesting portion of A.R.'s Letters & Papers are Archibald's advice to Andrew and Andrew's advice to Archibald in the practice of the art. The letter entitled a Treatise on Miniatures

the best Mallone I have ever seen. The daughters of Geo St Cuchinan have presented one by their father, Mrs Skaggs one by her husband and I expect Miss Robertson will give one by her father, and I should be very proud to have one by your father presented through my exertions. I have long contemplated calling on Mrs Hartshorne as your father work me she would show me what she had of his work, but I have the terrible American disease of not enough time. I am very truly yours
