To the Council of the N.A.D.

Gentlemen

My Attendance on the School prevents my being wt [[with]] you in Council this evening in 10th Street.

I beg to submit to your consideration as Treasurer the fact — That we are at present without funds — The treasury is not only empty - but over drawn. Therefore dearly beloved bretheren this is to counsel you to be economical — most rigidly so — in every thing.

More over I would add. That the Anvrsy exhibition receipts are already mortgaged with the rent inclusive for something like unto Four thousand dollars, over and above its ordinary expenses.. Which I trust it may be able to meet - but do not expect it to do so.

Sincerely & Vry truly [[?]]
Thomas S. Cummings
