LEO CASTELLO

20 July, 1964

Dear Mr. Castelli,

Well the Summer is finally catching up with us. It is Beastly hot and muggy. I am melting away.

I am enclosing a) a letter from Scull to Squirro that will indicate quite clearly that gentleman's feeling, a b) something from the Art Dealer's assoc. for you to sign andreturn.

News: Del Junco called to tell me that he had arranged for Merce & Co. to have 2 performances the 8-9 of March 1965 in Toronto and he wants to combine this with the opening of an RR show consisting of 2 or 3 good paintings and the lithographs and the Dante drawings with the Abrams book. He also told me that the Davidsons wanted to reserve until the opening of the gallery ' Gezira ' and one of Roy's Banners.

I spoke to Marc this morning after I got your letter. He is going to do up something and sent it air mail to you in France. You can see it, decide and then send it on to Fitzsimmons. The deadline isn't until the 15th of Aug. In the meantine I am going to do the Dante again for Art In America.

I got ahold of Bud Holland. He is sending Jasper the print cabinet. I spoke to JJ. and he says he will stay in New York awhile and then go to S.C.

I have spoken to Grushkin and his assistant everyday. The books will not get out until the end of next week. I ordered 25 to begin with, specifying the litho orders we were given ( they amounted to 22 so I ordered 3 more of the most popular Litho. ) I have left Jim very explicit instructions, but I think that for orders' sake the wisest thing to do except for a few important exceptions is to make the Dante getting out a Fall project. It will really be a mess if very careful attention is not paid to every angle of the operation.

Money: We have been receiving steady checks. The De Menils did pay for the Pistoletto but the other accounts have only been paid up a bit ie. some money from Krimsley and some from Adelaide for the kline. Nancy did not project for the month of September she just carried us through August. She will be in in the end of August ot look things over. We were paid today for the Lichtenstein Banner by Johnson.
