39 Quai des Grands Augustins
Paris VIe

Dearest Ileana,

I want to reassure you about Jasper's Figure 1. It is here, and in good shape. I am glad you got the transparency of the Red Painting, and I am keeping my fingers crossed night and day. It would be most gratifying to both of us if you could sell that painting to Zwirner. I authorize you to be quite flexible about price.

Sidney's letter is really awful, but we've known for many years that sensitivity is not one of his qualities. Anyway " On l'a eu "!!

I will do my best to unravel Jean-Jacques' predicament. I don't know Gertrude Stein personally, but Ivan does and I will put him on the case. If necessary I will, of course, intervene too.

I will send a list of litho. prices tomorrow. Photographs of all of them will follow soon.

Tomorrow is election day. Do you remember when we used to distribute Stevenson campaign buttons on Times Square? This time there isn't great enthusiasm around but we all expect that Johnson will do a creditable job. There is some excitement about whether Robert Kennedy will make it. I hope you and Mike got yourselves absentee ballots.

Love,

P.S. After paying Sidney & Elkon, the amount that I deposited at Chase for you was $7,246.00.
PPS. Did you send the Rosenquist Brush & Maremont's RR?

PPPS. I sent 25 Greek Temple posters signed by Roy.
