Dear Mr.de Wilde,

I am sorry I am so late in answering your letters, but as far as the Lichtenstein triptych is concerned, I wanted Ileana to handle its sale to you. As for the transparency of Dubuffet 'Archetypes,' thenpainting got misplaced and we found it only a few days ago.

I cannot tell you how delighted I am that you bought Lichtenstein's 'As I Opened Fire...'. It is considered by most people, here and in Europe, as perhaps his greatest painting so far. Both Lichtenstein and I are very proud that it has found a permanent home in one of the great Museums of Europe.

As you know the painting will be exhibited at the Corcoran Biennial from February 26 to April 18. I shall send it on to you immediately upon the termination of the show.

Ileana instructed me to send you the invoices for the Lichtenstein and for the [[strikethrough]] 4 [[/strikethrough]] 3 lithographs that you acquired. They are enclosed herewith as well as the transparency of 'Archetypes'. Please contact Ileana about the last mentioned painting. It is her property.

I hope you will have the opportunity to come to New York before the Summer, but if you don't, I look foreward to seeing you in Amsterdam beginning of July.

My very best regards,
Leo Castelli
