Dear Ms. Hilberry:

On October 25, 1986, the Carnegie-Mellon University Art Gallery is opening an exhibition of Elizabeth Murray's drawings. The Exhibition will run through December 13, 1986.

I understand the drawing Black Drawing is in your permanent collection. The Carnegie-Mellon University Art Gallery would be most appreciative if you would consider lending us this work for the duration of our exhibition. This is an important work, and I would very much like to include it in our exhibition. We would need to have the drawing from the beginning of October through the end of December, 1986. The Carnegie-Mellon University Art Gallery has borrowed work from many public and private collections throughout the United States, and your piece will be fully insured from the moment it leaves the lender until it is returned.

We will be publishing a full-color catalogue in conjunction with this exhibition, which will be supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. All lenders will be credited in this catalogue.

I have included a loan form with this request. If you should agree to lend you work to the exhibition, kindly complete the information; and return our copy wiht an origanal signature at your earliest convenience.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Most sincerely,

CARNEGIE-MELLON UNIVERSITY ART GALLERY
