THE DETROIT INSTITUE OF ARTS

Mr. James F. Duffy JR. March 24, 1994
17111 E. Jefferson Avenue
Grosse Pointe, MI 48230

Dear Jim:

Since I know that you share my enthusiasm for the work of Elizabeth Murray, since there is a jewel of a Murray show up at Susanne Hilberry's, and since the DIA does not have an example of Murray's most recent work, would you be willing to help me in acquiring one from the current exhibition?

I realize how many conflicting demands are made upon your time and resources. However, if you are in sympathy with this to the point of giving me a quick call at 833-1040, I will interpret this as an affirmative signal and take it from there.

Cordially,
[[signiture of Jan van der Marck]]
