Mr. Edward Russell
Champion Papers
245 Park Avenue
New York, N.Y.

Dear Mr. Russell,

I have just returned from London, and have spoken to Jacob Lawrence today. I was delighted to find out that he had agreed to execute the commission for Champion Paper. He told me that he was shipping the original to us this week, and we should receive it by the middle of next week. I will call you as soon as it arrives. Would you like us to order the frame for it, or will you take care of that yourself? If you will call my office and let them know, we can have it framed once it arrives. Framing usually takes from two to three weeks.

I had told Mr. Lawrence in June that Champion Paper would pay $4,000 for this commission. You and I had discussed this figure when we spoke, and it was my understanding that this was the price upon which we had agreed. Mr. Lawrence told me that he had received a check for $1,000, remitted directly to him. He mentioned that he had told you that all financial arrangement were to be made through our gallery. I am letting you know all this so that the payment for the balance can be made directly to us, as his agent.

I am looking forward to seeing you, and hope that you had a pleasant trip through Africa.

Yours sincerely,

Terry Dintenfass
