Dear Tony and Jane,

Enclosed are the papers from Bykert and Droll/Kolbert which I agreed to send after out telephone conversation last night.

The gallery purchased New Piecee(1/6), The Snake is Out (3/9), and Duck (1/9). New Piece is welded bronze and Snake and Duck are cast bronze.

For your records we had the following pieces in our exhibition (February 12-March 12, 1977):

Throwback Source
Beardwig Duck
Equinox Black Box
Throne(loan from Wagstaff) New Piece
The Snake is Out Moondog

We also showed the following paintings:
Exit
Untitled 1962, 42 x 48"
Untitled 1962, 44 x 42"
The Louisenberg, Number 5 (loan from Wagstaff)
Untitled 1962 (For Abby)

Untitled 1962, 44 x 42" was cleaned in the conservation lab of The Detroit Institute of Arts. When it arrived it was in no condition to be exhibited. Donald told us to go ahead and have done what was necessary.

As you know Irwin sent a check to Tony for $5,000 in August of 1976. We wired $20,000 to Droll/Kolbert on December 17, 1976. This was our guarantee for a Smith exhibition. With that money we purchased the three pieces listed above.

I would appreciate a note from Tony telling me what he wants me to do with regard to Throwback and Beardwig. In the interim, as we agreed, nothing will be done without first notifying you.

John Hilberry and I wish you all the very best of New Year's. Irwin sends his best regards.

Fondly,
