a few days and attempted my cure with Reynolds Spacific- but this time it played me false. I grew steadly worse and in a week could not turn over in my bed I urged Aunty not to inform the folks at home as I wished not to alarm them, and it was some time before I would consent to have a physician. at last Dr Blakeman their family phy was called- The company leaving which were here I was carried down to the front room on the second floor. My stanch and generous old friend Fred Church came and spent the nights with me sleeping on the floor and rising four or five times to aid me in turning over or administer my medicin. I just had a violent Rhumatic fever This continued more or less during my entire confinement to any bed (lttle over 3 weeks) The Dr kept me under the influence of morphine to quiet the pain which was most excrusiating Aunt Nancy was untiring in her care and I am indebted partially to her for so speedy a recovery. Strength and flesh deserted me rapidly and I lay in a continual stupor from the narcotic- At last about the middle of February I began steadily mending and as it was evident I should need aid for some time Charlie was sent for. Our folk then were not aware of the real severity of my illness Charlie came however and remained with me a month during that time I gained strength very slowly and we frequently discussed the plan of going south but Father was anxious for us both to return home
