LOUIS L. HORCH, President October 25, 1938 VERNON C. PORTER, Director

Miss Elizabeth McCausland,
50 Commerce Street,
New York City.

Dear Miss McCausland:
At the Trustees meeting Monday Evening I proposed that the Museum give a comprehensive exhibition of the photographs of Mr. Lewis Hine.
This proposal was accepted and a sufficient budget appropriated to cover the expense of mounting the prints, exhibiting them under glass, providing a catalog and the usual announcements to the public.
Your personal interest in Mr. Hine's work leads me to believe you would welcome acting as his contact person and through you arrange the details, probably a foreward for the catalog and advise on the publicity. I have no allowance for reimburs[[strikethrough]]e[[/strikethrough]]ing you for the work but mayhaps that is not a factor.
Will you let me have your reaction to my proposals?
Cordially yours,
Vernon C. Porter
Director.
