States that he has rec'd orders from Genl Ruger to investigate the case of the wife and children of Washington Mays' Freedman. That Capt Evans made a report thereon on the 25th inst and asks whether Genl. Ruger was aware of the report, or having recd it since the order to Capt Hay was issued whether further investigation is deemed necessary.
Respectfully forwarded to Asst. Commr whose attention is invited to the endorsement of Capt Evans thereon.
