we do not know yet whether we have the house- but we  will write tomorrow again- if they accept our offer Ed thinks there will be no difficulty about having the stuff there.

I wanted you to send me a list of the things you would like to send, for there may be articles already there that would answer - this does not apply to good furniture but only to common -

Comfortable rocking chairs did not seem very plentiful in the house- and there were no carpets and the kitchen ware did not appear to be very good.

However you know my liking for good old stuff and that nothing but the lack of money would prevent me taking the whole lot.

You spoke once of a couple of little ottomans- were you thinking of bringing them?

I have received word that the stuff from Paris is in the New York custom house. This was unfortunate as it compelled me to put it in the hands of custom house brokers here. I have signed no less than nine different papers at the brokers and two in the Phila custom house- I expect the box here this week if it gets through- I told them the contents were less than $100 in value- as that seemed necessary to avoid trouble- and I do not think the estimate wrong, though it is worth more than that
