THE JENKINS HOUSE

Coming down from Columbia, turning towards Cameron, off the main road, was the old Jenkins house. Before you came up on the porch, past the well, was a cedar tree at least 100 years old. The ladder was for climbing up to the top of the wonderful old pear tree. In October, they were brown-green in color, very large and firm but sweet. The pear tree died a few years ago. The cedar is still standing.
