Three Burned Shacks

Nobody knows how it started but Mrs. Ella Jenkins ran out first, stark naked, followed by her three children, and a large white chicken, who had come in from around the kitchen door or something. It was a hot Saturday night and the other two houses were empty. Lula Smith's wash was still in her wringer machine when she got back. Roderick James was home alone drinking and chain smoking when he fell asleep. He did that a lot. This was his third fire.
