Notes, Saturday, July 24, 1993. Athens, Georgia. The Doctor will, if you're lucky, see you now. "Evelyn." When I could see the last step down before the floor, I spoke that name and said - Why Evelyn? The name was so clear. I have made drawing and charms and "stuff" before being able to complete this...piece of work. (That phrase is a verb, I think.) I was always looking for something for "HER." Something to add and mix, knowing that she would not have Eva Hess along, that this was a "Healer." This sculpture has taken almost seven months to complete. But there did come that point--as I touched the floor--when I looked up and said, "You no longer belong to me."
