Jan 3 [1977]

Dear Betty,
I thought of you the other day when I went over to Beaubourg, which will open at the end of the month, and was taken around the museum section by Pontus Hulten. Even allowing for the fact that things are always more exciting when they are in the process of happening than when they have happend [[happened]], I must say I was dazzled by my tour among the packing cases and mostly bare walls. It is terrific--very comfortable in size, although huge, very jaunty. The top floor is just a bit higher than the Paris roofline so one has the feeling of [[strikethrough]] being [[/strikethrough]] floating on a ship.

The French are still complaining about it, but the hell with them: come see it! The first big show is Duchamp. In late May they have Paris-NewYork-Paris, on the mutual influences, etc. Hulten may be in touch with you for advice on this one.

You must be very busy preparing for your show. I am srry [[sorry]] to miss it. Snow on the Leaf is at the framers and I shall be happy to have it here soon. New Year's Day was absoutely [[absolutely]] radiant and glistening in the a.m., then suddenly at about 4 in the afternoon there was a huge clap of thunder, which scared the hell out of everyone. Bo went under a table and stayed there for hours, the French said it was a bad omen and are counting on higher taxes and other disasters. I say a happy new year anyway, especially to you, and may it bring us more meetings.

Best,
Mary Blume

Excuse red ribbon; the sober side wore out.
