Leghorn October 30th 1851

My dear uncle,

I received your letter of August 26th. The presents that Mrs. Ritchie brought have come. She is at Paris now and is going to stay there all winter I believe. Miss Sally Cary brought them to us. I think them very handsome. Tell your mother that I am very much obliged to her for the beautiful garnet brooch, and also thank your sisters very much for the handsome little gold bracelet. I still keep the brooch that you gave me and every one likes it who sees it. We are at Leghorn now, in a house outside the town just on the sea. We have been here ever since the
