5th of September, and are going to stay all winter. I like living here very much, and I can swim now. A little while ago Mr. and Mrs. Howland Shaw came here on their way to Naples. I was very much pleased with Mrs. Shaw. She has a nice little girl and boy. Remember me to all, and believe me yours yours truly

E.O.L. Boott.

When you write, thank aunt Mary very much for the beautiful presents she sent.

Dear Arthur, I have neglected too long to reply to your agreeable note.

I am sorry to learn by the papers the bad accts. of business in America. Mr. Eliot's case seems a particularly hard one. I saw also in the Times that Mr. Lowell had failed, but [[blot obscures word]] letters inform me that he will have a large property after all debts paid - I hope it is true- We have had a very pleasant visit from Mrs. Cora & her family. Lizzie has this moment got a note from her from Sorrento Oct. 25th- this may possibly be a later date than you have heard of them. She is a delightful person & we parted from her with great regret.- You ask me to enlighten the American public about Marie. I have not the power of John Dwights to write aesthetics. The only expression I can wreak myself in is [[?]] itself, & tho I have sent a good deal
