Dear T.D.P.

Hit upon a brain child last night that might very well have a sterling influence in the art world. Is it not true the artist is a darling poodle, a mongrel in our society - for he is not particularly respected? He's supposed to be either nuts or dissipated etc. Why not give the artist a break, help him on the bread & butter issue. If he doesn't have to prostitute his art - paint society's imported nobility & the upper crust, or pot boilers. Certain organizations have helped to a small degree. AFA, Art College Ass. etc - publications have listed competitive scholarships etc - this may very well solve a problem temporarily but my point is to extend the temporariness into something more that will benefit not only the artist in making him a more respectable member of society having retained his integrity, as well as a more harmonious person but it will
