& all the senses, it should be an exquisite experience & one should come away feeling he has inhaled a most fragrant scent regardless of subject matter or approach in painting. For me painters today in America do not give enough of themselves it is too much 

Irving also commented that my animals (& War & Peace are expressed with animals, luxurious plants, trees, exotic birds, strange & beautiful flowers) were so meditative & loving & inspite of all the strength & force evident, there was so much delicacy, poetry & fragility He was so delighted by them that he burst into bubbling laughter & when I inquired about his [[strikethrough]] lau [[/strikethrough]] outburst he told me it was so enjoyable & gave so much pleasure to see my work. When I've completed them I shall invite everyone at the colony down to see it. 

He knows of some woman in Boston who would probably love to own these & I could, he thought
