quantities of food cached in safe places. The work sounded interesting but it was hardly in my line.

In the Art Association activities, I flatter myself that I made two contributions. The Association acquired space for a museum and art gallery in the Veterans' Building, and during the planning stages, I suggested an unusual schedule of hours for it to remain open. It has always seemed to me to be unfair to people who work all day for a museum to close its doors in the later afternoon just when they would be free to enjoy it. I proposed that the museum we were planning should open at noon and close at 10:30 at night, thus giving art lovers an opportunity to enjoy it during the week. The proposal was adopted. It was a great joy to see so many people come in, some immediately after work, some after dinner, many with sketchbooks. My second suggestion was that Grace McCann Morley, who had built a reputation as a great curator, be named for that position
