"What is it?"

"Washington. Chief of Bureau."

"But that's wonderful. That's very important."

He agreed. "But look," he said, "I've been a foreign correspondent for 11 years and I wanted to stay abroad. Sure, Washington is the biggest story in the world. On the other hand, Western Europe is going to be a big story, too, especially if the Russians get nasty. All the elements for another was already are there and that's the story I know best, the one in Europe."
