In June of 1950, we drove to Annapolis to see my nephew graduate from the Naval Academy.  My sister and her husband came on from California for the happy event. We were all so proud of Peter. He had worked terribly hard through the four years, determined to graduate among the top few in his class. Then, almost at the last minute, he had undergone an operation.
