Dear Mr. Baker:

In admiration of the work of James Brooks, we are organizing a major retrospective exhibition of his paintings and drawings to be held here at the Finch Museum from April 29th through June 15, 1975.

After leaving here, the show will travel to Michigan where it will be held at the Flint institute of Art and at the Grand Rapids Public Museum. From September 14th to November 2, 1975, it will be at the Cranbrook Academy of Art Museum in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

In cooperation with the artist and the Martha Jackson Gallery, important paintings from the artist's oeuvre have been chosen for this exhibition. Mr. Brooks is particularly anxious to show the following paintings owned by your company: Berl(1956), Cantanda(1957) and Isen(1966).

While we are aware that it is not your policy to lend your paintings, we ask that an exception be made in view of the fact that the artist strongly feels that his show would be incomplete without your paintings which are representative of those years. If you should find it impossible to lend all three, we would be most grateful if we could borrow the Cantanda of 1957.

We are planning an elaborate illustrated catalogue in which we would be pleased to include a photograph of your paintings.

As I was editing this transcription, I saw that Berl, Cantanda, and Isen are underlined in the text. I'm not sure how to transcribe that.
