Mr. Sidney Kohl
7134 N. Barnett Lane
Milwaukee, Wisc.

Dear Mr. Kohl:

We are planning to hold a major exhibition of works by JAMES BROOKS, April 29 - June 15, 1975.

Mrs. Varian, our director, in cooperation with Mr. Brooks and the Martha Jackson Gallery, will select about 80 important pieces in all media which will be borrowed from public and private collections. A catalog will be published.

Among the paintings chosen is your, "Gordian", 1953, and they hope very much that you will agree to lend it. If you do agree, loan forms will be sent to you. All costs of packing, shipping and insurance will be borne by us.

The exhibition will be shown at the Galleries of the Cranbrook Academy of Art in September, 1975, and perhaps two other institutions will wish to participate.

We will be happy to answer any questions you may have, and we thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Robert H. Luck, Curator,
