Dear Bob and Terry:

Since I was unable to reach you by telephone when I returned your earlier calls (though I do hope you got my message), I thought I would write to bring things up to date....

For some reason, I did not receive a copy of the Mailgram you addressed to the Equitable bank people (though I understand I was marked for a copy), but Dan Stone telephoned me and read me the message. I suggested he speak with you directly to arrange detailed schedules. It appears there have been poor communications all around, as a result of which Dan Stone was unaware of the Museum's plans for the September show (since all of my contacts were with Bill Amelia, of their public relations firm).

First, I am enclosing a tentative list of proposed contents for the show we are organizing. With a couple of substitutions, this accords quite closely with the material we selected when we were together in New York at Ileana's. I spoke to Antonio this past Monday, just before they left for Europe, and he tells me they cannot see any problems with any of the objects on this list. I intend to make one more trip to New York to work with Janelle and make final decisions about any additional pieces to be included (and I will of course let you know). Do you see any difficulties, from your point of view, with these contents?

Second, let me reiterate that the Museum is perfectly willing to schedule its exhibition, within reason, to accord with the requirements of what I know to be your terribly demanding schedule for the autumn. When I spoke with Mr. Amelia over a month ago, and proposed these exhibition dates, I proposed them as tentative and asked that he review the dates with the Equitable officers; subsequently, in correspondence, I asked Ileana to clear these dates on her calendar, as well as on Leo's and yours. Needless to say, there are many demands on our spaces and it is only important that we settle on some dates as definitive! I understand that it is much more efficient to coordinate your trip to Baltimore-Washington to include the dedication of the piece at Children's Hospital in Washington as well as the dedication of Bank Job. Our exhibition, of course, is integrally tied to Bank Job, inasmuch as that was the very raison d'etre for its organization by the Museum.
