Dear Mr. Castelli,

the Robert Rauschenberg Exhibition shown in our museum until April 5 is a fine success and we are all very pleased with it.

Unfortunately, however, we have to report a theft which happened the other evening despite extra guards placed in strategic corners of the show rooms. An unknown visitor removed one of the bottles from the Sant'Agnese exhibit, one of your loans. Immediate search and alarm has as yet not produced any sign of the bottle. We have contacted the police and informed the insurance company promptly. This is most regrettable and we feel highly distressed that this should happen in our museum, the last stop of the Robert Rauschenberg retrospective.

The insurance company, HAVAG of Berlin, will contact you in due course to discuss and arrange the necessary settlement of the claim.

Please accept our sincerest apologies and we do hope that the bottle can be adequately replaced.

Yours sincerely,

Armin Zweite
