Dear Peter:

It was nice seeing you and Ginny again in Hawaii. I hope all is going well for the 1984 Olympics.

By way of this letter, I am introducing you to Robert Rauschenberg, considered by art experts worldwide to be perhaps the greatest living artist.

I ran the contemporary arts portion of the YPO Seminar on "Collecting" recently held in New York City. Mr. Rauschenberg (among others, including Andy Warhol and Christo) was one of our dinner guests. During dinner, we got on to the fact that he was an avid wind surfer.

Spontaneously, he came up with the thought of how exciting it would be for him to paint the sails of the American entry in the 1984 Olympic wind surfing event, especially in view of the fact that this is the first Olympics featuring that event.

Naturally, I was proud to tell Mr. Rauschenberg that the Chairman of the 1984 Olympics was our current YPO Chairman, and that I would be happy to convey the idea for consideration.

Mr. Rauschenberg also mentioned that he wondered if painting the sails might affect speed, in which event perhaps the practice sails only should become the artist's canvas.

In any event, the idea was so intriguing I felt it warranted this note to and and your consideration. Please let me know what you think.

Hope to see you again soon.

Cordially,

David
