Robert Rauschenberg, EGYPTIAN SERIES 7. 1973.

contemporary collage

The collages selected for this exhibition have been chosen for their bold and assertive design, and for their avoidance of precious and ingratiating effects. They are distinguished by their declarative visual statements, and by the direct and unencumbered use of materials. If these characteristics held in common do not constitute a shared sensibility, formal similarities between them do provide points of comparison to enrich our enjoyment of each.
We are grateful to the lenders who have made this exhibition possible.
