Ossorio calls his work Congregations, a group of intentions or objects congregated together and working for a single purpose. The work has an affinity to folk art with its primitive vitality and compendium of artifacts. Chock full of the detritus of our culture, these sumptuous amalgamations are witty, if not caustic, and are replete with Christian and secular iconography. Ossorio imbues his work with spiritual content; for him, the secular and the sacred are inextricably woven together. What is so fascinating about his art is the dialectical play between the ugly and the beautiful, a push-pull of repulsion and attraction.

LEN PETERSEN

My work is derived from a "set" or a mood. I allow my unconscious to choose the shapes and to select the symbols that emerge as the work progresses. I do my best not to interfere in this process. It may take some time but eventually the work reveals itself to me.
