I request your particular attention to this communication & beg an answer at your earliest convenience

Immediately after the fall of Port Royal So Ca, at the commencement of the war, my sister Mrs Hamilton (widow of Gov. Hamilton of So Ca) sent 60 odd of her negroes off from her plantation near Bluffton So. Ca. where she was residing, to one of my plantations near Albany Dougherty Co Ga, where they have been ever since. Mrs Hamilton died some three years ago leaving one of her sons T.F. Hamilton Ex'tor, he residing in Texas, has never been able to reach Ga to make a division of the said property to the heirs. On neither of my plantations, have I land enough to work the negroes that were lately my own, [[strikethrough]] men [[\strikethrough]] to advantage, much less this extra force.

Now in justice to myself, the negroes who were lately my own, and to these unfortunates themselves who it is impossible for me to help any longer, I pray that Government will
