My dear Sir
The enclosed letter will perhaps possess for you some of the interest which it has for me. I am loth to tax your attention again so soon, but I feel this strongly, and venture to ask you to see that this reaches General Howard personally, and is not filed among a thousand recommendations. Should you see fit to indorse it in any manner, I am confident Mr Chittenden would feel greatly obliged.

Very respectfully
Your obedient servant
Wager Swayne
