My dear Mr Seward,

The Rev W Paddock whom you formerly knew in Western
New-York & who has been for some time in Pennsylvania has laboured among the sick & wounded soldiers of our Army in one of the Hospitals & is much beloved- His sympathies are keen & active - his experience among the sick large & his Executive capacity more than ordinary- I should be much obliged if you could further his restoration to the Chaplaincy in the U.S.M. Hospital which he lost a few months since thro. some oversight-

Yours faith,
Alonzo Potter
