General Howard,

Dear Sir, I take this opportunity of writing to you to see if there are any places in the Freedmens Bureau in which you are wanting any Clerks at the present time.

I am disabled by a gunshot wound in the left arm received last Oct , so that I am unable to follow my usual avocation but am as well able to write & do light work as ever

I enlisted in the 8th Me Vols Co. A. in the fall of 1861 last Oct I was wounded & captured on the same day & confined in Richmond 101 days & in consequence of illtreatment my arm is badly crippled.

As I was discharged the 3 day of June last & thought I would see if you employed any but those
