My Dear Friend

At your suggestion I put on paper the following items regarding my connection with the military service of our country.

At the earnest solicitation of Col. Ch. S. Hamilton - afterwards Maj. Gen. of the 3 Wis. Vols. I became Chaplain of the Reg. June 29th 1861 at Fond du Lac Wis.  We left Wis. on the 14th July & went into camp at Sandy Hook Md. on Saturday the 20th the day before the first battle of Bull Run-

I remained in the service as Reg. Chaplain about one year when in consequence of the failure of my health
