General.
I have the honor to ask that some Situation in the Freedmans Bureau may be given me

I have lately returned from the Army nearly entirely disabled, the result of a severe wound received in the Battle of the Wilderness May 5th 1864.

I entered the service as a Private in August 1861 and served throughout the War receiving regular promotions, leaving the service as "Adjutant" of my Regiment (61st Pa. Vols. Inft)  My wound is in the Left Shoulder, and in such a position that an Physical overexertion would in all probability cause my death, the Ball is still within me.
