General I am nearly in a destitute condition and I must get something to do, and may I not hope that Government for which I gave my all will give me employment  I know Sir that you are a Humane man, and a devout Christian, and as such I appeal to you for some employment were I can make myself useful and were I can earn a livelyhood.

My case is urgent  please do something for me, Be kind enough to answer this and if possiable let the answer be an appointment to some situation. I can bring the best of testimonials as to Character Sobriety &c. Trusting then that this application may not be in vain
