I have the honor very respectfully to make application to you for a Position in the Freedmans Bureau.  I have been in the Services of the United States as a Soldier for more than Four (4) years.

I am a Methodist Minister and feel a deep interest in the future welfair of the Freedmen of Our Country.  My associations with them here as well as down South has taught me that Religious Teching among them is a grate help in prepairing them for Good and industerious Citizens.  If you can place me in a position where I can be useful And assist in this good work of Caring for these oppressed People.  I will Gladley accept of it's General " will you be kind enough to give this communication a passing notice, and let me know as Soon
