Maj. Gen. O.O. Howard Freedmans Bureau

General

As our command is soon to be mustered out, I ask the to make some inquiries about service in the Freedmans Bureau. I am willing to serve the country of the cause yet longer if occasion requires provided I can meet the necessary expenses of my family. My three years term of service in the 18th corps under Gen. A.J. Smith has been pretty active. I am fifty three years of age - sound in wind & limb - with a modicum of Saxon energy & grit. - ardent temperament - active habits & not afraid of work - & considerable acquaintance with human nature I graduated at Princeton College New Jersey in the year 1832 & for the past 33 years besides the public duties of the Presbyterian church have been generally engaged in teaching the mathematics Languages & Sciences - fitting young men for college & conducting Public Institutions of Education. I have lived South - have as many southern connections as I want - & have watched the "Institution" & its peculiarities closely from boyhood. I have mingled with planters & laborers here & refer to Maj. Gen. Clinton B Fisk our former Colonel
A position with relative rank pay & duties of Major would meet my present views.

Be so kind as to give me information in answer to the following

Clearly this isn't one long sentence, but difficult to see periods. Should I put them where it makes sense?
