My dear Sir,
Your telegram of this date, in answer to mine of yesterday concerning the transfer of supplies by the USS Comr, is recd. In order that my motive in telegraphing you may be the better understood, I quote from a letter of the 1st inst, from J.E Rhoads of the Pennia F.R. Assoc'n.
"Dr Jos Parrish who is here just from Washington informs me that the Agents of the US San Com. are just turning over for Freedmen's use, some $7000.- worth of stores which were at their depot there. Genl Howard does not desire to have them for the Bureau to manage, but for some suitable parties to have them.
Very Truly
