Dear Sir,
Permit me to tax your time a little while to inquire whether it is practicable for your bureau, to furnish families here with house servants. There is such a dearth of them here, now, & indeed in all our towns & cities, around us that, our wives shall be obliged to be without help unless we can succeed in receiving, from your department, some colored women, as cooks, chambermaids, nurses & &. Please do me the favor to advise me immediately, whether we can be supplied by your department. And I am sure employment, permanent & profitable can be furnished from
