Dear Isamu,

The terra cotta piece, Tiger (which you gave me at Christmas during your show) I sent with two other pieces to an exhibition at the San Francisco Museum. They delayed for months in returning it and now I learn they have broken it! In the meantime I had promised to loan it to an exhibition of the private collections of members of Friends of the Whitney. They are as shattered as I am as I am the only member who has a piece of yours and they wanted to illustrate it. At any rate, I have decided to buy the Queen from you so we can both be well represented in this show. And, as this was so sudden, I have had to send a photograph of Tiger. Let me know if you would like a cheque soon. Otherwise, I'll wait for the insurance and then, of course, add to it.

Last evening, in the line of duty, went to see awful work by a dreadful sculptor - name of Robert Berks. However, he has a terrific studio on 92nd Street between Lexington and Third. It might be available fairly soon. Let me know if you are interested enough for me to send details. It's a four storey building with enormous studio and garage on first floor.

The enclosed photograph was sent to the Museum of Modern Art from a dealer in Japan, who wants to sell it - what price should it be? Write soon.

Love,
