head Picadilly Hotel with opening above street level with cols. Windows so neat & broken up in panes - the pleasant scale. Walked back to next boat behind couple speaking Ital. - vaguely like some Ital arch I have met in Italy.  Had Had tea & a sandwich on first getting off boat. Back to London seating on E side.  Whereso we came near Vauxhall Bridge the theatre bldgs appeared. Fun going under bridges - one with great drum supports of conc - then caps on end ones  Lovely iron work on many.  New bridge conc.  Took subway to Green Park (one change) & stopped at Shepherds Market & bought a new Statesman & read Pritchett & had tea & a Florentine.  Club for dinner - after a bath. [[strikethrough]] Then to bed early but [[/strikethrough]] Walter came for dinner & afterward we sat for an hour in the library looking out large window
