Aug. 24 - 
Walter came at 9:15 and we walked to tube station to get to Liverpool sta [[station]] for train to Cambridge. Got on a dining car and had scones & tea & read the Guardian, Walter read NY Herald Trib [[Tribune]]. Bus to Center of Cambridge then began walking. We saw the overflow bldgs from other colleges.

(where is his student dorm? Oxford - with Smithsons St Clare housing for women?)   

Scale very def from [[peters?]] narrowish [[tubes?]] [[image: diagram of a door opening?]] gl [[glass]] of [[strikethrough]] 1 [[/strikethrough]] 2 degrees of [[image: sketch of an angle of a slope]]  2 degrees of steepness  Clear gl at top so you can see the guts of beautiful joints -- sandwich of glass on both for insulation glossy paint cork floors, oak desks & shelves on walls [[image: diagram of shelf]] to lay books neat. alum tubing for fluorescent ltg along desk tops.
Planned so small staff could supervise & watch for thefts. Still have many thefts librarian says. Was leaking at sides & trying to repair.
