Aug 27. To airport for Orly.
An Australian next me on plane going to an engineering conference held every second year in Paris. His father died last year & now he takes over the travel duty. Odd, only people who talked to me at the club (then the plane) were Australians. I welcome the silence but liked the Aussies, so like Americans in their need to talk, & openness to strangers. Problem with our bags because he insisted not on a porter but carrying my big bag & I took his much heavier attache case. The burden was unbelievable, we shared a taxi.

I gave him 10f & we went first to my place. He had never been out of Aus before. His younger brother studies arch & knew Robin Boyd & Tange. We talked @ Jorn Utzons opera house, now 11 million - but it has been expanded to house more concert halls - what percent increase in area he didn't know. The hotel has 2 double windows on the st & a bath cut into the rectangle of the room - 6°- tub etc. I walked to the Pantheon, down to the Boul St. Germain looking for a place for tea & a dessert but everyone eating dinner.
